- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 8.5 ounces / 16 tablespoons salt (approx. 1 cup)
- Up to 1 cup water (added a bit at a time)
-
Add all-purpose flour and salt to a mixing bowl.
-
Slowly add the water a little bit at a time, mixing in between additions. You may not need the entire cup of water.
-
After the dough begins to form, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until it forms a smooth ball.
-
Using a plastic Easter egg coated in flour, pinch off enough dough to fill the egg and wipe off excess dough. Gently roll between your hands to make a smooth egg shape. Place on a baking sheet. Makes 12-13 eggs.
-
Bake at 200°F for 25-30 minutes. Do not overbake as eggs will crack.
-
Let cool overnight on baking sheet. Eggs will continue to harden when left out. Do not put in sealed container.
