Ham & Swiss Baked Penne

  • 11x7-inch baking dish
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Large saucepan
  • Small mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces penne pasta, cooked al dente and drained
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups 2% milk
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 6 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 ounces shredded Colby cheese
  • 2 cups cubed fully cooked ham

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray 11x7 baking dish and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt 3 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and pepper until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk and half-and-half. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook and stir until thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually stir in Swiss and Colby cheese until melted. Add ham and cooked pasta; toss to coat. Transfer to the prepared pan.
  • In a small mixing bowl, mix the topping ingredients. Sprinkle over pasta.
  • Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and topping is browned.
