1/2teaspoon baking powder
1/4teaspoonbaking soda
1 1/3cupall purpose flour
1cupsemisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 F. Line 13x9 baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
First make the brownie batter. In medium bowl of electric mixer, mix melted butter and cocoa powder on low speed. Add sugar, brown sugar, and salt, and continue to mix.
Next add vanilla and eggs. Beat well on medium speed for 1 minute. Then mix in flour.
Using a rubber spatula, scrape edges of bowl, ensuring all flour is mixed in. Then fold in chocolate chips.
Transfer brownie batter to prepared pan, scraping the bowl clean. Spreading batter into an even layer, then set aside.
Next make the cookie dough. Using the same medium bowl and electric mixer, cream the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar on high for 3-4 minutes, or until light and fluffy.
Reduce the speed to medium-low and mix in the vanilla and egg, scraping the bowl as needed. Add the salt, baking powder, baking soda, and flour. Mix until combined.
Using a rubber spatula, scrape edges of bowl, ensuring all flour is mixed in. Then fold in chocolate chips.
Drop cookie dough by spoonful onto the brownie batter. Spread to mostly cover, but leave some brownie batter showing through. Sprinkle with a few extra chocolate chips, if desired.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20-24 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into cookie dough near the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool before removing from pan. Cut into 15 bars.
