Equipment
Medium shallow bowl
Small round cookie cutter (about 1-1.5 inches)
Medium skillet
Tray lined with paper towels
Ingredients
1.5tablespoonsground cinnamon
1cupgranulated sugar
18-countcan jumbo refrigerated biscuits (Grands, or similar)
Vegetable oil for frying
Icing or sprinkles, optional
Instructions
For the donuts
In a medium shallow bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar; set aside.
Use a small round cookie cutter to make holes in the center of each biscuit.
Pour vegetable oil in a medium skillet, until about ½-inch deep.
Heat the oil on medium-high heat for about 5 minutes, so it’s hot enough to instantly cook the donuts upon hitting the skillet (about 300oF on a food thermometer). This prevents them from soaking up too much oil and becoming soggy.
Fry the donuts and donut holes in batches of 2-3 at a time, making sure to not overcrowd the pan. Fry only about 1 minute on each side, flipping them carefully with a fork.
Remove them to a tray lined with paper towels to soak up extra oil.
When all donuts and donut holes are fried, carefully dip them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Or, if desired, decorate donuts with icing and sprinkles.
