Perfect for a weeknight meal, cook this Philly Cheesesteak Pasta on the stovetop in only 20 minutes! This colorful pasta combines ground beef, onion, red pepper, green pepper, and cavatappi pasta in a creamy and cheesy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cavatappi pasta
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces (about 8 slices) provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Cook pasta to al dente; drain and set aside.
  • In large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat for about 5 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • Add onions and bell peppers. Cook until softened, about 7 minutes.
  • Stir in cream cheese, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings. Stir and simmer for about 2 minutes, until cheese is incorporated.
  • Gently stir in cooked pasta.
  • Layer cheese slices over the top. Cover and heat for about 2-3 minutes, until cheese is melted.
  • Stir cheese into pasta casserole and serve.

Notes

You can substitute shredded provolone from an 8-ounce block, if your local store has it available.
