Ingredients
1poundground pork breakfast sausage
1/4cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2cupswhole milk
1/2teaspoonsalt
1/2-1teaspoonfreshly ground black pepper
Instructions
In a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, crumble and cook the sausage. Allow it to brown and crisp a bit for added flavor. Do not drain the grease.
Reduce heat to medium and sprinkle flour, salt, and pepper over the sausage. Stir and cook 2 minutes.
Slowly add the milk, whisking constantly to prevent flour clumps. Reduce heat to medium-low and allow gravy to simmer, while continuing to whisk frequently. Continue simmering for about 4-5 minutes, or until gravy reaches desired thickness.
Serve immediately over hot biscuits.
Notes
Reheat any leftover gravy on the stove over low heat, adding 1-2 tablespoons of milk to reach desired consistency.
