Ingredients

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 package (10 oz) dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 °F
  • In a large bowl, mix sugars and butter with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add vanilla and egg; mix well.
  • Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt; mix well.
  • Gently stir in chocolate chips. Chill dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown – centers will be soft. Cool slightly and then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
