- 2 pound lean ground beef
- Salt and ground black pepper, to taste
- 6 hamburger buns
- 6 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 6 slices American cheese
- 12 strips cooked bacon
- 6 iceberg lettuce leaves
- 6 tomato slices

Preheat grill, griddle, or large skillet over medium heat.

Form ground beef into 6 square patties, approximately 4×4-inches.

Grill the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the center reaches 155°F – 160°F on a food thermometer. Salt and pepper each side during cooking.

Brown the faces of the buns on the grill. Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on each top bun.
