Equipment

  • Crockpot
  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 20 oz bag frozen meatballs (regular or Italian style)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 24 oz jar spaghetti sauce

Instructions

Cooking

  • Place meatballs, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning and spaghetti sauce in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, combine butter, garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning. Slice loaves of bread lengthwise and spread garlic butter on the inside of each loaf.
  • Put loaves back together and cut each loaf into thirds crosswise to create 6 sandwiches.
  • Place garlic bread cut side up on a baking sheet. Heat under the broiler until toasted.
  • Top toasted bread with meatballs, sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese for a hot and melty meatball sub.

Recipe Notes

  • For a freezer meal, place meatballs, Italian seasoning, and spaghetti sauce in a gallon-sized freezer bag. Place mozzarella cheese in a sandwich freezer bag. Lay both flat to freeze. Freeze the garlic bread in two, gallon-sized freezer bags. To serve, thaw ingredients and follow cooking directions in the recipe.
