- 1 (20 oz) bag frozen meatballs (regular or Italian style)
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 (24 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 loaves Italian or baguette bread
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
Place meatballs, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning and spaghetti sauce in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours.
-
About 30 minutes before serving, combine butter, garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning. Slice loaves of bread lengthwise and spread garlic butter on the inside of each loaf.
-
Put loaves back together and cut each loaf into thirds crosswise to create 6 sandwiches.
-
Place garlic bread cut side up on a baking sheet. Heat under the broiler until toasted.
-
Top toasted bread with meatballs, sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese for a hot and melty meatball sub.
-
For a freezer meal, place meatballs, Italian seasoning, and spaghetti sauce in a gallon-sized freezer bag. Place mozzarella cheese in a sandwich freezer bag. Lay both flat to freeze. Freeze the garlic bread in two, gallon-sized freezer bags. To serve, thaw ingredients and follow cooking directions in the recipe.
