Ingredient List
For the sliders:
  • 2 pounds extra lean ground beef
  • Salt and pepper (or other seasonings of choice) to taste
  • 8 ounces sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 7-9 slices swiss cheese
  • 1 package (12-count) slider buns (Or, try making your own Bread Machine Dinner Rolls)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Sesame seeds, optional
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.

  • Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a small microwaveable bowl. Add the Dijon mustard. Mix well and let cool. While continuing with the recipe, stir every few minutes while it cools to keep mustard and butter incorporated.

  • Spread out the ground beef evenly onto a 13×18 rimmed sheet pan, attempting to cover the entire pan. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, or additional seasonings of choice. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 155°F on a meat thermometer.

  • Meanwhile, melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until mushrooms are tender. Set aside.

  • When ground beef is cooked, remove from the oven and carefully pour off fat. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the cooked beef into 12 even squares.

  • Cut or separate top and bottom of slider buns. Place 12 bottom buns in a lightly greased 13×9 baking pan. Spread half of the cooled butter-mustard mixture on the bottom buns with a small rubber spatula or butter knife.

  • Place one square of beef onto each bottom bun. Top beef with slices of swiss cheese. Place the pan back in the oven for a few minutes just to melt the cheese.

  • Meanwhile, spread the remaining butter-mustard mixture on the 12 top buns.

  • Remove sliders from the oven and divide the cooked mushrooms evenly over the top of the melted cheese. Place the top buns over the mushrooms.

  • If desired, spray the top of the buns with a bit of spray butter or nonstick spray and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  • Return the completed sliders to the oven for an additional few minutes to toast the top bun. Serve hot.
