Swedish Apple Pie
This Swedish Apple Pie is unique because it doesn’t have a traditional pie shell. Instead, it features tart apples, sweet cinnamon flavor, and cakey crumb mixture. It is the easiest pie you’ll ever make!

- Large mixing bowl
- Small mixing bowl
- 9-inch pie plate
Ingredients
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup whole wheat flour
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 medium granny smith apples, cored, peeled and chopped (about 2 ½ cups)
- ¾ cup chopped pecans
- For severing: powdered sugar and cool whip
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 °F. Spray 9-inch pie plate with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flours, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in apples and pecans.
- Transfer to prepared pie plate. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
- Cut into 8 triangles and serve warm with a dollop of cool whip.
Notes
Chopped walnuts can also be used in this recipe!
