Cheesy Pull Apart Sourdough Loaf
This cheesy garlic sourdough party bread is easy to make and looks fantastic! With just a few minutes of prep and 30 minutes in the oven, you and your friends will be able to enjoy this pull apart bread as a party appetizer or with your favorite Italian pasta dish.

- Large baking sheet
- Serrated bread knife
- Aluminum foil
Ingredients
- 1 round loaf sourdough bread (about 1.5 lbs)
- 16 ounces Monterey jack cheese, sliced
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Minced fresh chives, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 oF. Line a large baking sheet with 2 large sheets of aluminum foil, aligning in a cross, with excess on all sides. Set aside.
- Using a sharp bread knife, cut bread loaf into 1-inch slices to within ½-inch of bottom of loaf. Repeat cuts in the opposite direction, making a checkerboard appearance.
- Insert cheese slices into all cuts and place loaf on prepared pan.
- Mix melted butter with lemon juice, mustard, garlic powder and onion powder. Drizzle over bread.
- Wrap aluminum foil around the bread and bake 20 minutes.
- Unwrap and bake until cheese is melted and starting to brown, about 10 minutes longer.
- Sprinkle with chives and serve immediately.
Notes
Using a store-bought loaf of sourdough makes this recipe fast and easy. Homemade sourdough bread can also be used.
