Giant Meatball Sandwich
This giant meatball sub is the ultimate crowd-pleaser. It’s loaded with juicy meatballs simmered in marinara sauce, and covered with melted cheese. All nestled onto soft, toasted French bread which soaks up all that flavor without falling apart. Set it out and watch it disappear.

Ingredients
- ½ cup plain bread crumbs
- ⅓ cup beef broth or milk
- 2 tbs parmesan cheese, finely grated
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ¾ tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ lbs ground pork
- ½ lbs ground beef
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 loaf (12-16 oz) unsliced French bread, halved ¾ of the way through lengthwise
- 4 tbs salted butter
- 8 oz shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese blend
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- In a large bowl, combine bread crumbs, beef broth, parmesan cheese, eggs, onion powder, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Add in the beef and pork and mix gently, but thoroughly.

- In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat the spaghetti sauce over medium heat. Add meatballs; simmer for 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, place halved French bread on a foil lined shallow baking pan. Butter the inside of the bread loaf. Bake bread at 425°F for 8 minutes or until lightly browned heated through.
- Once bread is heated; remove from oven. Place half of the cheese inside the bread canal; spoon meatballs and sauce onto cheese. Top with remaining cheese. Place back in the oven for 3 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Slice sandwich into serving-size portions; serve with extra spaghetti sauce, Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil if desired.
Notes
- Use purchased, frozen meatballs for a time saver.
- Sub can be cut into 4 servings for a meal or 10 servings as a hearty appetizer.
