Hazelnut French Toast Roll Ups

- Cutting board
- Kitchen knife
- Medium shallow bowl
- Nonstick pan
- Rolling pin
Ingredients
- 12 slices bread
- 6 tablespoons hazelnut spread
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Maple syrup for serving, optional
Instructions
for the Hazelnut French Toast Roll Ups
- On a cutting board, gently flatten a slice of bread with a rolling pin; trim the crust off the bread.
- Spread about ½ tablespoon hazelnut spread across the bread.
- Gently roll it up.
- Repeat with remaining slices of bread. (Note: Make each roll up one-at-a-time so the bread will not dry out and start to crumble).
- Preheat a nonstick pan over medium heat.
- In a medium shallow bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar and cinnamon.
- Carefully dip each bread roll in the egg mixture, coating all sides.
- Place roll (seam side down) in the pan.
- Let each side brown, rolling ¼-turn until all sides are brown.
- Remove to a serving dish.
- Drizzle with or dip in maple syrup, if desired.
