  • 1 8 to 10 ounce ribeye steak
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounce provolone cheese, shredded
  • Parsley, optional

Instructions

For the Philly Cheese Steak French Bread

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with foil.
  • Season the steak with salt and pepper.
  • Add vegetable oil to a skillet and place over high heat.
  • Once hot, add the steak. Sear both sides (about 2 minutes on each side). Remove the steak and set aside.
  • Add the butter to the hot skillet. Once melted, add the pepper and onion slices. Cook until tender, stirring occasionally; set aside.
  • Cut the French bread to open up (like a sandwich) into two large pieces and place them cut side up onto the foil.
  • Cut the steak into very thin slices.
  • Spread mayo over the French bread and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  • Add the onions, peppers and steak slices. Top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 6-8 minutes or until cheese is melted and starting to turn a golden brown.
  • Garnish with parsley if desired.
  • Helpful hints: 1. Use a different cut of steak if you don’t have ribeye 2. Use other bell peppers (red, orange, yellow, etc) or other veggies such as mushrooms
