Philly Cheesesteak Pizzas
Perfect for an appetizer or a weeknight dinner, these Philly Cheesesteak Pizzas are a unique sauce-less pizza that uses whole-wheat pitas as a crust.

- Large baking sheet
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
- 2 medium pepperoncini pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 lbs shaved or very thinly sliced beef
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 4 whole-wheat pocket pitas
- 2 cups shredded Italian blend cheese
- ½ cup pickled, sliced banana peppers
Instructions
- Preheat the broiler.
- Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and the pepperoncini peppers. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened.
- Add the garlic and beef and cook about 3 minutes more, until the beef begins to brown.
- Add the parsley, salt, and pepper, and cook 1 more minute.
- Meanwhile, line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Arrange the pitas on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle each with about ¼ cup cheese. Top evenly with the beef mixture and the remaining 1 cup cheese.
- Broil the pizzas until the cheese melts, about 2 minutes. Top with pickled banana pepper slices and cut each pizza into quarters. Serve warm.
